WHAT IS THE REAL MEANING OF THANKSGIVING?
In the English tradition, Thanksgiving and special Thanksgiving services gained prominence during the English Reformation, which took place during the reign of Henry VIII. Thanksgiving was born in England back then in response to the religious days on the Catholic calendar. Before 1536 there were 95 church days and 52 Sunday masses on the calendar. With the reform of 1536, the number of church days was reduced to 27.
